Turkcell İletişim Hizmetleri A.Ş. , abbreviated as Turkcell , is the largest wireless operator and the largest wireless operator in Turkey .

history

In February 1994, Turkcell put Turkey's first GSM network into operation. Today Turkcell has 34.5 million customers in Turkey and thus a market share of 53%, the rest is shared by the two competitors Vodafone Türkiye with 28% and Türk Telekom with 20% market share. Turkcell covers 100% of all Turkish cities with over 1,000 inhabitants and reaches 99.13% of the total population. The network coverage reaches 88.3% of the total land mass of Turkey. The largest shareholder is Turkcell Holding with a total package of 51%, another is the Luxembourg based LetterOne Group with 13.22%. In the second half of 2020, the Telia Company sold its shares in the Turkish state fund TWF.
