history
Before the Second World War, the community owned over 40,000 sheep. Transhumance has been the rule for centuries. Almost every family had a herd.
During the Second World War , members of the 1st Mountain Division of the German Wehrmacht carried out a massacre among male villagers on July 10, 1943, 2 were shot while trying to escape, and a further 21 were burned to death in two houses. The village remained uninhabited until the first snowfall in winter, for fear of the residents of further attacks.
German as a foreign language is widespread in the village because many residents emigrated to Germany after the Second World War.
