The sweeper & Weber GmbH was a wholesale company in Poing near Munich operation, which include several hypermarkets in southern Bavaria. In 1998 the GmbH was transferred to SPAR AG and all department stores were reflagged.

history

The company's history goes back to 1781. In 1767 Angelo Sabbadini from Pavia (Italy) settled in Munich and in 1781 opened a grocery store in downtown Munich. Sabbadini also owned a banking house in Munich, which in 1812, at the request of the state debt repayment fund , co-founded the so-called discount fund . But as early as 1819 a settlement request was made, as this was very lossy. In 1820 Sabbadini paid the 163-highest trade tax in all of Munich and brought the banker Ludwig Knorr into the house as an accountant. The trading house SABBADINI-KNORR has long been considered the largest trading house in Munich.

In 1825 Angelo Sabbadini headed the Utzschneiderbrauerei in Munich. He headed this until his death in 1837. In 1830 Sabbadini sold pharmaceutical products from the Ludwig Maximilian University . After his death, his son-in-law Ludwig Knorr took over the brewery and the grocery store.

Conversion to wholesale

In 1890 the company was handed over to the authorized signatory Robert Weber and the Reutlingen-based businessman Gottfried Kehrer. They created a wholesale company from the trading house in downtown Munich. In 1910, the two owners handed the company over to the Weissbecker family, including Dr. Franz Weissbecker, who was a co-founder of the Spar trading company in 1952 . For the time being, Kehrer und Weber GmbH remained independent and supplied independent retailers throughout southern Bavaria.

Department stores

In the mid-1970s, in addition to wholesale, the first hypermarkets were opened under the name Panorama Shopping Center , including in Burghausen , Traunstein and Mühldorf am Inn . For this purpose, a new sales line called BHZ - Bayerisches Handelszentrum - was founded in 1971 with the company Kathreiner AG, located in the immediate vicinity . Most of the department stores were built in industrial estates and had a sales area between 8,000 and 12,000 m². In addition to food and textiles, the range also included furniture, car parts and other non-food items. Petrol stations were also built alongside the department stores.

takeover

In 1985, the 3 SPAR wholesalers Pfeiffer & Schmidt (Hamburg), Karl Koch & Sohn (Langenfeld) and Kehrer & Weber (Poing) founded SPAR Handels AG. In 1986 all hypermarkets were changed to Interspar-Center. The BHZ - Bayerisches Handelszentrum became the SPAR-Zentrale Süd Kehrer & Weber GmbH. In 1989 SPAR Kehrer & Weber GmbH was then fully integrated into SPAR AG.

On May 19, 2005, SPAR Handels AG was sold to EDEKA Handels GmbH .
