from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ludwig Knorr (* 1783 in Dachau ; † November 19, 1852 in Munich ) was a grocer , brewery owner and banker in Munich.

Life

Ludwig Knorr's father was a clerk in Dachau . In 1781 the merchant Angelo Sabbadini , who moved from Pavia in 1767, opened a grocery store in Munich.

In 1820 Knorr was an accountant for the merchant Angelo Sabbadini (1753–1837) and married his daughter Elise (1791–1866). Her sons were Angelo (1820–1872) and Julius Knorr . In 1780 Karl Alexander (Brandenburg-Ansbach-Bayreuth) founded the Hochfürstlich-Brandenburg-Anspach-Bayreuthische Hofbanco . Income this achieved through subsidies , with which the leasing of subjects for warfare in the US War of Independence was designated. In connection with the difficult state of public finances in 1812, the Discontkasse was founded at the request of the State Debt Redemption Fund , a private institute of the Augsburg banks Schaezler , Wohnlich & Froelich , Carli & Comp. and the Munich banking houses Karl Lorenz von Mayer , Angelo Sabbadini , Mathias Scheichenpflug and Josuel Wertheimer . The Discontkasse was lossy and in 1819 a settlement was made.

In 1820 Angelo Sabbadini paid the 163 highest trade taxes in Munich and was therefore allowed to be elected to the magistrate. In 1821 he was only a house owner and no longer paid any business tax.

In 1830, Angelo Sabbadini's shop sold pharmaceutical products from the Pharmaceutical Institute of the Ludwig Maximilians University .

From 1825, during the reign of Ludwig I (Bavaria) , Angelo Sabbadini headed the Utzschneiderbräu, founded by Joseph von Utzschneider in 1811. In 1837 his son-in-law Ludwig Knorr took over the management of the brewery.

In 1838 Knorr was a co-founder of the Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechselbank . In 1842, Knorr bought the Büchl brewery at Arnulfstrasse 52 and leased it to Gabriel Sedlmayr in 1848 . His heirs sold the property in 1862 to Joseph Wagner, the owner of the Augustiner brewery . Ludwig Knorr has been in the Old South Cemetery since 1852 . From December 2, 1859 , a grandson of the same name, Ludwig Knorr, grew up in his father's renowned office building, in the SABBADINI-KNORR trading house in Munich's Kaufingerstrasse .
