Keith Brian Adamson (born July 3, 1945 in Houghton-le-Spring ) is a retired English football player .

Career

Adamson played in the 1965/66 season in the Northern League first for West Auckland Town and then for Tom Law Town , before he came for a trial at the professional club Barnsley FC and completed two games in the Central League for their reserve . Since the statutes of the Football Association only allowed one test match after he had already been active for two other clubs during the season, Adamson was suspended in the Northern League and a game in the Durham Challenge Cup , in which he was used after his test training, on green table for the opponent AFC Shildon . In March 1966, Adamson moved as a part-time professional to Barnsley in the Football League Fourth Division , where he was to replace George Kerr, who had switched to Bury , in the center-forward position . In the following weeks, Adamson came to six goalless appearances, with only two draws.

The following season Adamson was a full-time professional, but in the course of the season he came only to another competitive game for Barnsley and at the end of the season he was allowed a free transfer. He continued his career in the Midland League at Scarborough FC , for which he was the club's top scorer with 22 league goals in the 1967/68 season, was used in all 40 games and also played alongside his younger brother Terry . In the season 1968/69 Scarborough was one of the founding members of the Northern Premier League , in the league founded as a counterpart to the Southern Football League , which united the best semi-professional non-league teams in Northern England, he scored six goals this season, while the team was in the final table ranked just ahead of the relegation places; in the North Riding Senior Cup , meanwhile, won the title with a 2-0 win (a goal by Adamson) over the reserves of Middlesbrough FC . Adamson played a total of 79 competitive games for Scarborough in the two seasons, scoring 32 goals.
