Keith Rayner

Keith Rayner (born November 22, 1929 in Brisbane ) is a bishop emeritus of the Anglican Church of Australia .

Life

Rayner studied Anglican theology at the University of Queensland . In 1953 he was ordained a priest. In 1962 he received his doctorate from the University of Queensland with a thesis on the history of the diocese of Brisbane . In 1969 Rayner was ordained bishop of the Wangaratta diocese . In 1976 he became Archbishop of the Diocese of Adelaide . As the successor to John Grindrod , Rayner was primate of the Anglican Church in Australia from 1989 to 1999 and at the same time Archbishop of the Diocese of Melbourne .

Rayner is married and has three children.
