Kelkoo is a product search engine and price comparison portal that was founded in France in 1999. The name Kelkoo is the phonetic spelling of the French question "Quel coût?" ("At what price?"). Alternative explanation is “Quel coup”, “What a bargain!”.

The Kelkoo portal is a European shopping and price comparison service founded in France in 1999 that enables users to find information about products they want to buy, including price and dealer information. In 2004 the company was acquired by Yahoo! Bought. Kelkoo is represented in 10 European countries: Great Britain , France, Spain , Italy , Norway , Sweden , Germany , Denmark , the Netherlands and Belgium . On November 21, 2008, Yahoo! history

Kelkoo was founded in 1999 by Pierre Chappaz and Mauricio Lopez. The start-up capital of $ 3 million was provided by Banexis Ventures and Innovacom. After Kelkoo merged with 3 other European companies, it united their founders Per Siljubergsåsen, William Klippgen, Philip Wilkinson and Jorge Garcia into a collective.

In April 2000, Kelkoo merged with the Spanish company dondecomprar.com and the British competitor ShopGenie within a few days. In September of the same year Kelkoo merged with the Norwegian Zoomit.com and paid the Zoomit shareholders shares worth a third of the entire Kelkoo capital, making Zoomit the largest unit within the "new" Kelkoo.

In June 2003 Kelkoo cooperated with MSN, the European branch of Microsoft, and delivered the search and product results in the shopping channel. A similar agreement was announced in June 2004 with Ask.com (formerly Ask Jeeves).

In April 2004, Kelkoo was acquired by Yahoo! Inc for € 450 million. Yahoo! explained this step with the possibility of advertising for advertisers in a more targeted manner on the product level.

In October 2005 a book about Kelkoo was published in France with the title Ils ont réussi leur start-up! The success story of Kelkoo . The authors are Julien Codorniou and Cyrille de Lasteyrie.

In 2015 Kelkoo SAS applied for a hearing as a third party concerned in the cartel proceedings opened by the EU Commission in 2010 against “Google Search (Shopping)”. In the final report on the 2017 procedure, Kelkoo was named as an example of a specialized product search service alongside Shopzilla, LeGuide, Idealo, Beslist and Twenga.
