The Kelly River is a right tributary of the Noatak River in northwest Alaska .
Its source is in the De Long Mountains , a mountain range of the Brooks range . It flows south through the Noatak National Preserve and flows 47 km northeast of Noatak into the Noatak River, which flows over the Kotzebue Sound to the Chukchi Sea , a marginal sea of the Arctic Ocean .
The Dictionary of Alaska Place Names also uses the spelling "Kelley River" for the river. "Kuugruuraq" is used in The Inupiaq Eskimo Nations of Northwest Alaska .
