description

The Kelso Old Parish Church is located on Abbey Road in the center of Kelso not far from Kelso Abbey . The building, built between 1771 and 1773, replaced a previous structure on the site. In 1823 the Kelso Old Parish Church was redesigned and a bell was added in 1833. Even James Gillespie Graham submitted a draft revision, which was not implemented.

The building has an octagonal floor plan. Its masonry consists of roughly hewn quarry stone that was built into layered masonry . Building openings are framed with natural stone . Two portals on the east and west sides are decorated with cornices . In the meantime they were closed with masonry. The building closes with a slate-covered tent roof with an octagonal lantern . The Italianate-style wooden roof turret with open bells over the north portal was added in 1833.
