Reception and administration building of the former prison for open execution

The Kelterle im Stromberg is a former farm estate west of Hohenhaslach in the Ludwigsburg district , which was used as a children's home until 1974 and an open prison system until April 30, 2015 , and has since been operated by the Baden-Württemberg penitentiary education center .

location

The small settlement is located in a secluded clearing in a west-east running blade on the north -east roof of the Baiselsberg . The Kelterle, located 300 meters south of the castle stable of Bromberg Castle at an altitude of 300 meters, originally belonged to the Bromberg manor and, after its division from 1766 until the municipal reform, it was part of the Hohenhaslach district, which today belongs to the city of Sachsenheim .

history

The Kelterle was built in 1889/90 as a house with a barn and two garden houses by Gottlieb Scheerle, who managed some apiaries and a vineyard there. After his death in 1925, the property came into the possession of Gotthilf Weber, who in 1927 received a license for the summer months. In 1959 Friedrich Strecker acquired the property. He continued the bar operation in a 35 square meter garden hall , and he also traded there with his company Vacance and Touring, Gesellschaft für Ferienreisen und Wohnungsbau mbH .

Private children's home

In 1962 Ruth Benzing bought the property, built two new buildings there and started operating a children's home on January 1, 1965. Initially around 35 children were looked after by 15 staff members, later other buildings were added and the number of children living there increased to around 80 by 1967. When the State Youth Welfare Office began to assign children in homes to integrative homes instead of secluded rural homes around 1970, the undercrowding resulted of the facility with only about 40 children left to the economic decline of the owner. In 1971, the two springs that had previously secured the drinking water supply also dried up, whereupon the wine press was connected to the public water supply. In addition, there were disputes that lasted for almost a decade about the building loads for the repair of the access road, which is only about 500 meters long but runs over several markings and is in poor condition, which could only be resolved by merging all the municipalities involved in the city of Sachsenheim .

Open prison system

After the home was closed on July 4, 1974, the state of Baden-Württemberg acquired the facility in September in order to set up an open penal institution there.

Work started here on April 1st, 1975. On May 13th, 13 selected prisoners from all over the country were finally housed on the area. In the year 2000, in which a ceremony was held to mark the 25th anniversary of its existence, 6000 prisoners had seen the inside of the "Kelterle". Mainly so-called road traffic offenders came to the "Kelterle" until it was closed. Therefore, there was a corresponding offer on site with individual advice on the subject of alcohol, preparations for outpatient and inpatient therapies, mediation in self-help groups, preparations for the medical-psychological assessment to regain a driver's license and debt counseling.

This facility was run as a branch of the Heimsheim correctional facility until April 30, 2015 , and has been operated by the Baden-Württemberg correctional facility since its closure.
