Kem Nunn

Kem Nunn (* 1948 in Pomona ) is an American novelist, surfer , journalist and screenwriter from California .

Life

Kem Nunn grew up in Pomona and Northern California. He earned a Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) in creative writing from the University of California, Irvine .

In 2006, Nunn became the screenwriter of Home Box Office's US western television series Deadwood for part of its third and final season. Nunn wrote the episode Leviathan Smiles . With the producer of the series David Milch he subsequently developed the surfer series John from Cincinnati , which takes place on Imperial Beach in San Diego and was first broadcast in June 2007.

Nunn lives in Orange County, California .

His novels have been described as "surf-noir" because they have gloomy scenes, contain political hints and are set against the background of surfers.
