Kemosh
Kemosh (also Kamosh , Moabite כמש, Hebrew כמוש, Septuagint Χαμώς) is the name of the chief god of Moab, and appears next to it jointly with Ashtar as Ashtar-Chemosh . It corresponds to the Ugaritic Kammuth. The Bible mentions him in Num 21.29 EU , 2 Kings 23.13 EU and Jer 48.46 EU .
Judge 11.24 EU mentions Kemosh as the god of the Ammonites . For this reason, it was discussed whether this is a prescription or whether Kemosh should be equated with Milkom , the god of the Ammonites. However, both assumptions are likely to be unnecessary. The area dealt with in Ri 11 under Ammonite rule was originally Moabite, which is why it apparently continued to be regarded as under the suzerainty of the god Kemosh.
In the Greek interpretation he was equated with the god of war Ares .
