Ken Aldcroft

Ken Aldcroft (* 1969 in Coquitlam , British Columbia ) is a Canadian jazz and improvisation musician ( guitar , electronics, composition).

Live and act

Aldcroft grew up in Vancouver and worked from the late 1990s, first in Vancouver, then in Toronto with his own trios; in the 2000s expanded to the Convergence Ensemble , which included Scott Thomson (trombone), Evan Shaw (alto saxophone), Wes Neal (bass) and Joe Sorbara (drums). In 2007 he performed in Guelph with Anthony Braxton's Creative Orchestra (album Guelph 2007 ). In 2011 he made duo recordings in New York with William Parker ( One Sunday ). In the 2010s a number of solo and duo productions followed, including a. with Scott Thomson, with whom he also made a guest appearance in Germany, as well as collaborations and appearances with artists such as Wilbert de Joode , Joe McPhee , John Oswald and Lori Freedman . In the field of jazz he was involved in 25 recording sessions between 1997 and 2015.
