Ken Jones (soccer player, January 1936)

Kenneth "Ken" Jones (born January 2, 1936 in Aberdare ; † January 18, 2013 ) was a Welsh football goalkeeper and sports journalist. He took part in the 1958 World Cup with Wales as an unused substitute for Jack Kelsey .

Jones played for Cardiff City , Scunthorpe United , Charlton Athletic , Exeter City and Yeovil Town .

Due to a serious leg injury, Jones retired from his active career and became a sports journalist in 1958, first with the Daily Mirror and the Sunday Mirror , and later with the Independent . He wrote numerous books on football and boxing .

Jones came from a footballing family: his father Emlyn and his four brothers Shoni , Ivor , Bryn and Bert , as well as his cousins Cliff and Brin Jones were all professional footballers, Cliff and Ken are part of the Wales squad for the 1958 World Cup .
