Do you know cinema? (Subtitle: TV quiz for moviegoers ) was a quiz show of the ARD , which was broadcast from 1968 to 1984. Until 1972, the broadcast slot was on Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. The quiz then moved to a Saturday afternoon slot for a while. For many years, the quiz last ran on Tuesdays at 8:15 p.m.
history
The show went on air for the first time on December 1, 1968 in the third television program NDR / RB / SFB with Werner Schwier as the presenter. From 1970, the TV quiz ran initially on the ARD main evening program, now with Hellmut Lange . Actually only intended as a guest presenter, he took over the series from October 7, 1970 to his last broadcast on December 16, 1980. Rainer Brandt continued the quiz from 1981 to 1984.
Before Hellmut Lange's era, the head of the NDR's entertainment department and television producer Henri Regnier , who was also involved in the development of this format, hosted the quiz once as a guest in 1970.
Game flow
The candidates were initially shown various excerpts from movies . For the films shown, questions about the title , the actors and the respective directors had to be answered. Five rounds were played with seven questions each. The respective winnings could amount to several thousand German marks . The television viewers also had the opportunity to take part in their own quizzes and could win cinema vouchers on this occasion.
In addition to the film excerpts shown, some of the participating actors, voice actors and directors also appeared and in the interview often told of the productions and shooting. In addition, current movies were presented to the television viewers.
With the new presenter Rainer Brandt, the show received the subtitle Rainer Brandt informs about new films from 1981 . In addition to the quiz rounds, information was provided with a new focus on current cinema films.
