Henri Regnier (born November 21, 1917 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † May 28, 1988 in Hamburg ) was a German radio and television producer who shaped the German radio landscape with a number of innovative entertainment programs.

Henri Regnier, " the great old radio man " (according to the former NDR director Jürgen Kellermeier ) was a trained publishing clerk and joined Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk (NWDR) in the early 1950s , from which in 1955 Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) and Westdeutsche Rundfunk ( WDR) emerged.

As head of the NDR's entertainment department, Regnier initially developed humorous, non-conformist programs for radio and later also for television. For example, the radio satire " Adrian und Alexander " by and with Wolfgang Menge , the television cabaret " Die Rückblende " with Hans Rosenthal , the popular quiz show " Alone Against All ", also with Hans Rosenthal, or the television quiz " Do you know cinema? “With Hellmut Lange .

Regnier, who was known for his politically liberal attitude, also inspired the controversial television satire " Hello Neighbors !" With Richard Münch . In 1965 there was a scandal because Chancellor Ludwig Erhard ( CDU ) felt offended by the satirical broadcast, and so Regnier was forced to cancel the broadcast.

It is also thanks to Regnier that the well-known piece of television entertainment " Dinner for One " became a New Year's Eve classic. After the sketch - which was not originally planned as a New Year's Eve program - was broadcast as a break filler on ARD and NDR, the program only got its permanent slot nine years after it was first broadcast. On December 31, 1972, Regnier took the old broadcast tape out of the archive; since then, the New Year has not passed without a “Dinner for One”.

Until his retirement in 1982, Henri Regnier was head of the entertainment department at NDR.

Henri Regnier is the younger brother of the actor Charles Regnier . Until his death in 1988, Henri Regnier was married to the well-known television journalist Antonia Hilke , who ran the ARD fashion program “ Neues vom Kleidermarkt ” for over 30 years . He was the father of two children from a previous marriage; among them is the journalist Constanze Regnier . Regnier found his final resting place in the Hamburg cemetery Ohlsdorf (grave location BH 64 194).
