Antonia Hilke
Antonia Hilke (born November 19, 1922 in Berlin ; † September 3, 2009 in Hamburg ) was a German fashion journalist .
Life
Antonia Hilke had a Jewish mother, which is why she was not allowed to study after graduating from high school in 1941. Instead, she attended the art school Kunst und Werk - private school for design in Berlin-Schöneberg in 1942 and 1943 , as which the renowned Reimann School was continued in the years of the Third Reich until it was destroyed during the war. Towards the end of the war, Hilke worked for some time in an armaments factory.
After the war she lived in Hamburg, where she worked as a draftsman of illustrations and vignettes for various daily newspapers (including Die Welt ) from 1950 . By chance she got the offer to host a test program on the subject of fashion for the NWDR (from which the NDR and the WDR later emerged). This initial experimental program became the television program Neues vom Rond Point , which was revived as Neues from the clothing market four years after it was discontinued. Hilke became known for drawing clothes in real time.
Hilke was married to Henri Regnier for the second time , who was head of entertainment for the NDR for many years. She was the mother of two children born from their first marriage. After over 30 years of fashion journalism, she quit television in 1990. In 2009 she died in Hamburg at the age of 86 and was buried at the Ohlsdorf cemetery there at the side of her husband (grave location BH 64/194).
meaning
As the presenter of the ARD broadcasts News from Rond Point and News from the Clothing Market , she reported twice a year for over thirty years on current trends from the fashion capitals of Paris and Milan . With this "only intelligent fashion magazine that could be seen in this country" (FAZ), she became the most important German fashion journalist. A special feature was the style of their presentation in a white television studio , which completely dispensed with decorations.
