Jürgen Kellermeier (born April 13, 1939 in Bielefeld ; † October 3, 2009 in Hamburg ) was a German journalist .

Life

After graduating from the Helmholtz-Gymnasium Bielefeld , Kellermeier studied German , history and political science in Marburg, Munich, Münster and Vienna from 1959 to 1964 . After receiving his doctorate , he became a political editor for the Free Press in Bielefeld. In 1965 he joined the NDR - radio in Hamburg. From 1966 to 1976 he was radio correspondent for the station in the federal capital Bonn. In May 1974 he was the first to report the resignation of the then Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt in the course of the Guillaume affair .

After working as a correspondent in Bonn, he was first deputy editor-in-chief, then editor-in-chief at NDR radio in Hamburg, and in 1988 switched to radio program director . There he led a comprehensive program reform and created NDR 4, today's radio program NDR Info .

From 1990 until his retirement in 2004 he was TV program director for NDR. He expanded the third program of the North German Broadcasting Company into a successful regional full program. a. as the inventor of the daily eve magazine “ DAS! ". In addition, he has published numerous articles in magazines and books on political and broadcast policy issues. After leaving the NDR, Kellermeier worked as a freelance journalist. He also worked as a consultant for the ARD talk show Beckmann . In 2006/2007 Jürgen Kellermeier was President of the Rotary Club Hamburg Steintor for one year.

On the morning of October 3, 2009, Jürgen Kellermeier threw himself out of a window of his third-floor apartment in Winterhude with suicidal intent .
