Hello neighbours

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello Neighbors was a satirical television series of the NDR , which could be seen from October 30, 1963 on the ARD program. The TV adaptation of a radio show running since 1953, which was mostly devoted to political issues of the time in cabaret form, was highly controversial. The 16th episode was broadcast on November 11, 1965; a 17th was still being produced and announced for December 28th, but those responsible for the station deleted the episode from the program one day before after a test demonstration and discontinued the series.

In view of this, Walter Jens spoke of a “broadcast ban”. For him, the participants in the show “acted as vigilant custodians, denouncing the bad, (...) more for the country and its well-being than some self-satisfied people believe.” The world, however, judged: “What here is satire and criticism of the time was offered had nothing to do with spirit and wit or even charm, it was mostly quite irresponsible political blows below the belt. Here freedom through liberalism had openly become libertinage. ”Other reviews had previously described the show as“ corrosive ”and possibly“ financed by the East ”. Franz Mai , then director of the Saarländischer Rundfunk , also saw the broadcast within the ARD program as a violation of the SR's programming principles.

Richard Münch conducted the show . In addition, numerous well-known artists from the 1960s acted as speakers, singers and actors on the program. The lyrics for Hello Neighbors were written by Heio Müller , Joachim Fest , Peter Frankenfeld , Jürgen von Manger and Volker Ludwig , among others . The music came from Karl-Heinz Loges .

Large parts of the 17th episode, which was not broadcast, as well as some scenes from earlier episodes that were also censored, were released on the record "For Germans Forbidden" (Metronome MSLP 21001) after the end of the series. In addition to Richard Münch, Renée Franke , Wolfgang Neuss , Reinhard Kolldehoff , Renate Küster , Alexander Welbat , Erich Fiedler , Werner Schwier and Rolf Wunsch spoke and sang on this recording .
