James Kenneth "Kenny" Perry (born August 10, 1960 in Elizabethtown , Kentucky ) is an American professional golfer who mainly plays on the Champions Tour .

Career

After attending Western Kentucky University , he became a professional golfer in 1982 . Perry qualified for the PGA TOUR in 1987, and after initial difficulties, he won his first tournament in 1991, the prestigious Memorial Tournament . More victories followed in the mid-1990s , one in 2001 and 2003 - now at the age of 43 - he had his best season with three title wins. Perry briefly made the top 10 in the golf world rankings , and after two wins in 2005, Perry exceeded $ 20 million in career prize money in 2006. In June 2009, it passed the $ 30 million mark.

Since 2011 he has mainly played on the Champions Tour for professional golfers over 50 and won the Charles Schwab Cup in 2013 , the points classification (corresponding to the FedEx Cup of the PGA Tour) of that tournament series.

He played four times for the US team in the Presidents Cup and twice in the Ryder Cup .

Kenny Perry is married to his wife, Sandy, has three children, and is a deacon of the Churches of Christ in his hometown of Franklin , Kentucky .
