Kenny Wollesen (* 1966 ) is an American drummer , vibraphonist and percussionist . He grew up in Santa Cruz, California before moving to San Francisco and eventually settling in New York City .

In 1987 and 1988 he was a member of The Klezmorim , best known for his interaction with Bill Frisell : He is a member of the Bill Frisell Trio as well as the New Quartet and the Frisell Septet. He also played with John Zorn , Marc Ribot , John Medeski , Tom Waits , John Scofield , Jesse Harris and the Ferdinandos, Sean Lennon , Mitchell Froom , Big John Patton , John Lurie , Jim Hall , Jessica Williams , Dominique Eade , Kirk Knuffke and Myra Melford .

He is also a member of the group Sex Mob , which was nominated in 2007 for a Grammy in the category “Best Contemporary Jazz Album”, and the Kamikaze Ground Crew around Gina Leishman .

Wollesen describes his New York marching band , which consists of dozens of members and who repeatedly appear spontaneously at demonstrations, as “private pleasure” . He is a founding member of the New Klezmer Trio .
