Kentucky Broodmare of the Year
The Kentucky Broodmare of the Year ( Kentucky Zuchstute of the year ) is a 1946 award ceremony of a US thoroughbred - broodmare . It is considered to be the tallest in the US as Kentucky is home to most of the American thoroughbred breed. The title is awarded annually by the Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association . The award is based on certain award criteria. This includes, for example, the winnings of a mare's offspring. At times, less stringent criteria were applied. In contrast, the awarding of the Leading sire is in North America exclusively linked to the winnings that the offspring of the respective stallion earned in the past year.
