Kerstin Feltz

Kerstin Feltz (born May 1962 in Jena ) is a German cellist .

Life

Kerstin Feltz took cello lessons at the age of five. From 1978 to 1983 she studied cello with Lieselotte Piper at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar . She continued her studies under Valentin Fejgin at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow . There she was his assistant from 1985 to 1987 and did her doctorate. At the age of 18 she won the 1st prize and the VI gold medal. International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig, she won the Casals Prize in 1985, Tchaikovsky Prize in 1986 and received prizes at the Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition and in Belgrade. Radio, television and CD recordings followed. In 1987 she made her debut at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival . In autumn 1994 she was appointed professor for violoncello at the University of Art in Graz . Since then she has devoted herself to training the next generation of cellists. She has given master classes in Poland, China, Greece and Brazil and is on juries. Since then she has led concert tours through Europe, Turkey, the USA, Japan, China, Mexico, Brazil, Vietnam and she has appeared as a soloist with orchestras.
