Kerstin Rahn

Kerstin Rahn is a German historian and archivist . Since February 2019 she has been the head of the Oldenburg branch of the Lower Saxony State Archives , replacing Gerd Steinwascher .

Life

Kerstin Rahn studied in Braunschweig and Bielefeld . In 1994 she received her doctorate with a thesis on "Religious brotherhoods in the late medieval city of Braunschweig". After completing her studies, she worked as a trainee lawyer in the Schwerin State Archives from 1995 to 1998 . This was followed by employment in Hamburg and from 2000 in Hanover , where she worked at the main state archive until 2006. Here she designed an exhibition on the history of the police. Kerstin Rahn was seconded to the German Historical Institute in Rome for six years , where she participated in the “ Repertorium Germanicum ”.

On her return to Lower Saxony, Kerstin Rahn moved to the Osnabrück location of the state archive as deputy director . This was followed by a secondment to the Lower Saxony State Chancellery , which lasted for several months , after which she was responsible for the training of archivists in Hanover in 2016.

Activities and memberships

Kerstin Rahn worked on the editing of the Lower Saxony Yearbook for State History . She was also an editor of various specialist journals and a lecturer at the University of Osnabrück . She is a member of the Historical Commission for Lower Saxony and Bremen .
