Kerstin Thiele

Kerstin Teichert born Thiele (born August 26, 1986 in Riesa ) is a German judoka and Olympic runner-up who competes for the JC Leipzig in the weight class up to 70 kg. She completed her training in competitive sports project of the Federal Police , which they called 2,010 police Champion completed.

Career

Thiele won the U20 European Championships in 2005, and in 2007 she finished second at the U23 European Championships. In 2008 she won the bronze medal at the European Championships and the World Team Championships. In 2008, 2009 and 2013 the judoka from JC Leipzig won the German championship title. At the European Championships in 2009, Thiele lost to the French Lucie Décosse only in the final and received the silver medal. In January 2011, Kerstin Thiele won a World Cup tournament in Sofia for the first time.

In the nomination for the Olympic Games in 2012 , Kerstin Thiele was preferred to Iljana Marzok from Berlin , although Marzok was ahead of Thiele in the world rankings and, unlike Thiele, was entered on the international qualification lists of the International Judo Federation . The decisive factor was Thiele's fifth place at the Grand Prix tournament in Düsseldorf.

Her greatest success is the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where she reached the final as an outsider, in which she was defeated by the 2010 and 2011 world champion Lucie Décosse .

In the 1st Judo Bundesliga, Kerstin Thiele led the team of the Jucoclub Leipzig as captain.
