Kessler dance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kesslertanz (including Kesselersdanz , Kesslertantz ) is the name of an alleged witch's dance venue from the 16th century in the forest of Büdingen . The field name Kesslertanz still exists today between the village of Rinderbügen and the Büdinger Forest . Women accused of being "witches" were suspected of having been on the Kesslers Danz during the witch persecution .

The dance places are often old court places or other special places. The witches of Büdingen allegedly visited the Pfaffenwald, the Breitenborn or a place in the Büdinger Walde, called "Khesselers dantz".

In 1597 four women from the town of Rinderbügen were accused in a witch trial of having taken part in the witches' Sabbath here (described in more detail under Rinderbügen).
