The chain of the Academy of Sciences ( Russian Академии Наук хребет ) is a mountain range in the west of the Pamir Mountains in Tajikistan .
The mountain range has a length of 110 km. 24 peaks exceed the 6000 m mark. Several large glaciers cover the mountain range, including the Fedchenko Glacier and the Garmo Glacier . The total glacier area is 1500 km². The Russian geographer Nikolai Leopoldowitsch Korschenewski named the mountain range in 1927 in honor of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR .
