Kevin Leon Byard Jr (* 17th August 1993 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He plays for the Tennessee Titans as safety .

college

Byard attended Middle Tennessee State University and played college football for their team, the Blue Raiders, from 2012 to 2015 . He was able to set a total of 318 tackles and get 19 interceptions .

NFL

Byard was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the 3rd round in the 2016 NFL Draft for 64th overall and received a four-year contract worth $ 3.64 million. Already in his rookie season he was able to establish himself and was used in all games, seven times as a starter , whereby he gradually got more and more playing time.
In the 2017 season he was again much better. So he managed 16 pass defenses and 8 interceptions, which he led the league together with Darius Slay . For his consistently good performance, he was also appointed to the Pro Bowl for the first time .

In July 2019, he signed a new contract with the Titans. It has a term of five years and a total value of $ 70.5 million, of which $ 31 million is guaranteed. He became the highest paid safety in the league, with an average earnings of $ 14.1 million.
