Kevin McCutcheon

Kevin McCutcheon (born 1955 in Johnstown , Pennsylvania , † on or before February 1, 2021 in Berlin ) was an American pianist and conductor .

Live and act

McCutcheon studied conducting , piano and composition at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia .

From 1976 to 1979 he worked as a conductor at the Opera of Philadelphia and then moved to Berlin at the Deutsche Oper . In December 1985 he made his conductor's debut there with Così fan tutte . Until 2019 he was a solo repetitor at this house and also conducted performances of the Children's Music Theater.

McCutcheon made regular guest appearances with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin , the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin , the Kammerorchester Berlin and the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt . In 1985 he was awarded the Pennsylvania Music Award (PMA). He made guest appearances as conductor of the Prague Opera in Japan and in 2006 with the Berlin Chamber Orchestra at the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival , at the Rheingau Music Festival and at music festivals in Spain.

From 1986 to 2020 he was the conductor of the Berlin Doctors Orchestra . He died in Berlin in early 2021.
