The Key 26 , also Keyship 26 , is a semi-container ship type from the Seebeck shipyard in Bremerhaven .

history

The ship type was designed in the early 1970s as a large supplement to the very successful Seebeck 36L type for regular service. The ships of the series are designed as universally usable semi-container ships for long voyages. In order to do justice to the changed framework conditions, the Key 26 was adapted to the container transport with a higher degree of deck opening and the ships were designed for a slightly higher speed than their predecessor. The Type Key 26 was offered in four construction variants (Type A, B, C and D), the cargo hold sections of which are characterized by different degrees of deck opening, hatches of different sizes and arrangement with or without longitudinal herft , the equipment with or without intermediate decks, the arrangement of the ballast tanks and A distinction was made between the equipment with different types of loading gear - ultimately only two Type C units were ordered. The two ships built for the French shipping company Navigation Mixte from Marseille were characterized by a high container capacity, an intermediate deck in the hold and the equipment with cranes.

The designation Key 26 is based on the Bremen key , with the following 26 standing for the load capacity of around 26,000 tons. The two French actors Marcel Pagnol and Raimu were honored with the naming of the two ships .

Technical details

The Key 26 ships have superstructures arranged aft and five holds with tween decks . The holds were equipped with removable cell guides . All hatch covers were built according to the Ermans system . The roll-weather deck hatches are of the type Rolltite-Mark 4 , the intermediate deck hatches from the sliding cover type. Four electric ship's slewing cranes from the manufacturer Brissonneau & Lotz , each with a capacity of 25 tons, were installed as their own loading gear .

The main engine was a Sulzer 6RND76 two-stroke diesel engine built by H. Cegielski in Poznan with an output of 12,000 hp, which acted directly on the fixed pitch propeller. There was no bow thruster available to support the berthing and casting off maneuvers.
