According to published on January 23, four year absence succeeded Ashcroft with this album a successful comeback in Europe. He achieved platinum in Great Britain and number 2 in the British album charts and was also able to chart in the top 10 in Germany.

background

After the expiry of the The Verve Major Deal in 2002 and the settlement of Hut Recordings , Ashcroft was suddenly without a record deal in 2003 and Virgin even had to approve a The Verve Best Of. Finally, thanks to the support of Chris Martin , Ashcroft was able to find accommodation with another EMI subsidiary, namely Parlophone , and in 2006 published the long-awaited Follow Up on Human Conditions . Most of the songs had already been written and recorded in 2003.

description

Compared to the previous album, Keys to the World is again much more catchy, varied and reduced in its arrangement. Ashcroft experiments a lot more with his voice and ties in with old British songwriting traditions, which drives his songs more towards Britpop . Music Is Power , a song that Ashcroft cares about very much, is based on a motif by American soul musician Curtis Mayfield . In terms of content, the album varies between socially critical, romantic and depressive phases.
