Khaplu or Khapalu is a place on the lower reaches of the Shyok in Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan . It is the administrative seat of the Ghanche district , one of the two districts of Baltistan .
Khaplu was formerly the seat of a Raja and controlled access to a side route of the Silk Road running through the Shyok Valley . Today's attractions include the Rajas Palace, a 19th century fort and a mosque that is said to date from the 14th century.
