Khatauli is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .

The city is part of the Muzaffarnagar district . Khatauli is located approx. 614 km northwest of Lucknow near the border with Uttarakhand and belongs to the National Capital Region . Khatauli has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 25 wards . Afzalgarh had 72,949 inhabitants as of the 2011 census date, of whom 38,192 were men and 34,757 were women.

Khatauli is located on National Highway 58 from Fatehpur to Palanpur , which is an important route for trade and commerce. The largest sugar cane mill in Asia is located in the city.
