Children and Youth Council NRW
The NRW Children and Youth Council ( KiJuRat NRW for short ) sees itself as the “official state representative of all child and youth committees” of North Rhine-Westphalia and therefore as a “representative body of all young people in North Rhine-Westphalia” that represents “their interests vis-à-vis politics and the public”. Participation in the umbrella organization founded in 2006 is open to all North Rhine-Westphalian children's and youth parliaments that send two delegates to meetings of the council after joining. The KiJuRat is presided over by a team of five speakers elected from among its members.
history
The NRW Children's and Youth Council was founded on September 9th and 10th, 2006 in Herne at an annual meeting of North Rhine-Westphalian children's and youth committees, the so-called Workshop under Palms (WUP), which has been taking place since 2004. At that time, 29 bodies were involved. The idea was born on the WUP of 2005. Since it is local- for KiJuRats delegates to a double burden because of their like national political commitment, was an initiative of the state government towards the country's youth office of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe set up the service center for children and youth participation NRW which has been supporting the KiJuRat NRW in its work since January 1st, 2014.

Delegates
Members are the delegates, two of whom are elected and sent by each committee for children and young people. The bodies also elect two substitute members. In principle, every child and youth committee in North Rhine-Westphalia is free to send delegates. The delegates meet at least twice a year for a public meeting of the Council.
Speaking team
The delegates elect a five-person, two-year spokesperson team from among their number, which leads the meetings and publicly represents the KiJuRat NRW.
