Kidekscha ( Russian Ки́декша ) is a village in the Russian Oblast of Vladimir . It is located about four kilometers east of the city of Suzdal , near the confluence of the Kamenka and the Nerl .
history
The residence of Prince Yuri Dolgoruki was located in Kidekscha in the 12th century . Yuri Dolgoruki probably chose the site because of its strategic location, which made it possible to control the waterway into the Suzdal upstream on the Kamenka.
Attractions
Several buildings from the 12th to 18th centuries have been preserved in the village, including the Boris and Gleb Church, built in 1152 as the court church of the royal residence. The latter, along with the Church of the Transfiguration of Christ in Pereslavl-Zalessky, is the oldest testimony of Vladimir-Suzdal limestone architecture. The building was damaged during the Mongol storm. In 1239 it was repaired again, but some time later it was left to decay. The heavily dilapidated church was not rebuilt until the 16th and 17th centuries, although its shape was significantly changed.
