Kiesgroup is a German pop band from Düsseldorf that was founded in 1999.
history
Kiesgroup was founded in 1999 by the former members of the pop band Tainted Children , Andreas van der Wingen and Maximilian Stamm . Kiesgroup quickly made a name for themselves in the underground of the city of Düsseldorf, which is why the Wuppertal music label Paul! became aware of the group and in 2003 released the debut album Dativ Boys . The album moves musically between punk and chanson, the lyrics are multilingual (Polish, French, German and English). Strengthened by musicians from the pop band Perlon, Kiesgroup concentrated on live performances, including at the Open Source Festival. In 2005 they were awarded the State Capital of Düsseldorf's Culture Prize for Music. The second album, Gladbach or Hastings , was released in 2006 on the Düsseldorf label Lolila with mostly German lyrics. Guest singer in the song Die Strokes is Peter Hein . The musician Stefan Jürke became a permanent member of the band in 2007, under whose influence Kiesgroup increasingly included electronic elements in the arrangements, as characterized in the third album, which was released in 2007, Life As a Detour Between Nothing And Nothing .
In 2012 the label Tumbleweed Records released the fourth album Shantychrist . It contains the detective radio play Sommerzeit and shows the turn of the singer Andreas van der Wingen to the theater. In the 2012/2013 seasons he is a member of the ensemble of the concert installation Sender Freies Düsseldorf at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and the “Theatrical Citizens Concert” Alle im Wunderland at the Oberhausen Theater , both directed by Schorsch Cameroon .
He is also a member of the Analog Theater Cologne at irregular intervals. There he sang the Kiesgroup songs “Ab in die Ewigkeit” and the “Lullaby” under Daniel Schüßler's piece “Der Perfekte Mensch /// Woyzeck” based on Georg Büchner's 2007. In 2013 he played, also directed by Schüßler, in the analog project "Being Philotas - What It Is Worth To Die For (WP) - A Longing Party for the Homeless" based on GE Lessing.
Since October 2016, Andreas van der Wingen has been hosting his own monthly program "Erdenrund" on the Internet radio station ByteFM .
