Daniel Schüßler (* 1973 in Düsseldorf ) is a German theater director .

life and career

Daniel Schüßler completed his acting training at the German Center for Drama and Film from 1998 to 2002 , which he completed in 2002 with the stage maturity test.

During his acting training he already took on a number of roles at the Kölner Schauspielhaus under the direction of Günter Krämer .

After his acting training, engagements at various theaters such as the Nationaltheater Mannheim , the Schauspiel Köln , the Oper Bonn , the Schwetzinger Festival , the State Theater Schleswig-Holstein and the Catalan action theater group La Fura dels Baus followed .

In 2004 Daniel Schüßler founded the analog theater in Cologne, where he directs most of the projects. A large part of the productions of the analog theater are world premieres, which he writes in collaboration with changing authors and which have a strong performative character. His work is characterized by an interdisciplinary aesthetic, for which he integrates artists from different disciplines in the creative process.

In addition to his productions, Daniel Schüßler works as a speaker, performer and actor and realizes video works in collaboration with other artists.

Since 2013 he has been teaching various activities as a lecturer in the field of acting and performative forms of representation. He teaches as a lecturer at the Institute for Art and Art Theory at the University of Cologne, at the Theater Academy Cologne and in the training program of the Studiobühne at the University of Cologne in 2016.
