Kilberry Castle was a castle immediately west of the village of Kilberry on the west coast of the district of Knapdale in the Scottish administrative unit Argyll and Bute .
history
The Tower House with an L-shaped floor plan had a side line built by the Campbell clan in 1497. It was destroyed by an English pirate as early as 1513 . The ruins were integrated into a country house that John Campbell had built in 1844. In 1871 the country house was expanded.
Stones
A group of hewn stones in the care of Historic Scotland are placed in a purpose-built shelter on the castle grounds. The stones, which also include cross stones and medieval tombstones, originally came from the village's medieval parish church, which was destroyed in the 17th century.
