The cross is in the cemetery of Kilchoman Church . Like the church building, which has been preserved in ruins, and the church's former rectory , the Kilchoman Cross is classified in category B in the British list of monuments . Along with Kildalton Cross and Kildalton Small Cross, it is one of the island's three well-preserved late medieval Celtic crosses.

description

Kilchoman Cross is located in the middle of the church's mostly 15th century graveyard. It is not known exactly when the Kilchoman Cross was made. Historic Scotland assumes production was around 1500. The approximately 2.5 m high cross stands upright on a three-tier, stone pedestal. The shaft is decorated with images of angels, crucifixion scenes and some Latin inscriptions. The monument is well preserved and its design corresponds to the Campbeltown Cross in Campbeltown on the Kintyre Peninsula .
