Kim Chang-sop (born January 2, 1946 in Ŭnsan-gun , P'yŏngan-namdo ; † June 9, 2020 ) was a North Korean politician of the Labor Party of Korea (PdAK) and Colonel General of the Korean People's Army , who was among other things candidate for the Politburo of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PdAK as well as Vice-Minister and Head of the Political Department of the Ministry for People's Security. He was also a member of the Central Committee of the PdAK and a deputy of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly .

Life

Kim Chang-sop joined the People's Army in 1963 and, after attending the Kim-Il-sung party college, became an instructor in the Central Committee of the PdAK, where he was responsible for teachers. He later moved to the Ministry of People's Security, where he became deputy head of the Ministry's Political Department.

In September 2003, Kim Chang-sop was elected for the first time as a deputy of the Supreme People's Assembly and was a member of it until his death. In August 2009, he became Deputy Minister and Head of the Political Department of the Ministry of Public Security with the rank of Colonel General.

At the third party conference of the Labor Party of Korea on September 28, 2010 he was elected as a candidate for the Politburo and a member of the Central Committee of the PdAK. At the funeral of Kim Jong-il in December 2011, he was a member of the 233-member funeral committee, where he took 26th place in a prominent position. In February 2012 he was awarded the Kim Jong il Order.
