Kim Doo-young (born December 5, 1952 in Changseong-dong District , South Korea ) is a lawyer, diplomat and, since 2002, deputy clerk at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea .

After studying French linguistics and literary studies at the Hankuk University for Foreign Languages in Seoul , which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1979 , Kim obtained a Master of Laws with a specialization in international law at Seoul National University in 1981 , where he also obtained a doctorate in 1992 who did his doctorate in law. He also graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in International Relations in 1985 .

In 1981 he entered the civil service of his country and from 1986 worked in the foreign service, including as a consultant at the embassies in Ivory Coast , Mexico and at the permanent mission of his country to the United Nations . Since June 25, 2002, Kim has been assistant clerk at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.
