Jesse Tyler Ferguson (born October 22, 1975 in Missoula , Montana ) is an American actor .
Life
Ferguson was born in Missoula , Montana in 1975 . After finishing school he attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City from 1994 . Ferguson has starred in various theater and musical productions in New York City, including The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and A Midsummer's Night Dream .
From 2009 to 2020, Ferguson played in the Mockumentary Modern Family the role of Mitchell Pritchett , who with his partner Cameron adopted a baby from Vietnam.
In September 2012, Ferguson announced his engagement to attorney Justin Mikita. On July 20, 2013 , Mikita and Ferguson were married in New York .
