Kim Jong-boo (born January 13, 1965 in Tongyeong , Gyeongsangnam-do ) is a former South Korean football player and today's coach . He spent his career in South Korea , most recently playing for Daewoo Royals . As a trainer, he was active in various positions at various clubs from 1997 to 2015. He is currently under contract as a coach at Gyeongnam FC .

Career as a player

Adolescence

Jong-boo first went to Joongdong High School and went to Korea University in 1983 . He finished his studies in 1987.

Kim Jong-boo joined the Pohang POSCO Atoms in 1988 . There he received a two-year contract. In his first season as a professional player, he won the K League with Pohang in 1988 . It was his first title in his career. In 1989 he was unable to defend the title with his teammates. At the end of his second season, he moved to the Daewoo Royals . He completed 33 games for Pohang and scored one goal. In 1991 he was able to win the K League with the Royals. This will be his last title as a player. At Daewoo Royals, he never made it beyond the reserve role, so he moved to Ilhwa Chunma in 1993 after 37 missions and five goals . There he also got a two-year contract. He hardly got a chance there, however. He only played three games and didn't score any goals. Still, he won the 1993 and 1994 seasons . At the end of 1994, he moved back to the Daewoo Royals. In his last season he only made three appearances and could not score any goals. At the end of 1995 he ended his career.

National team

Between 1982 and 1983 he played six games for the U-20 national team , scoring two goals. From 1983 he was accrued for the 1st national team of South Korea . He scored eight goals in 25 games. From 1991 he was no longer called up for the national team.

Career as a coach

After his career as a player was over, he went to Geoje High School two years later in 1997 . There he was supposed to look after the youth team. He stayed there until the end of 2001. In 2002 he went to Dong-Eui University , but was dismissed in the same year for lack of success. In 2006 he signed a contract with Joongdong High School . He stayed there for four years until the end of 2010. In early 2011, he announced that he would be moving to Yangju Citizen FC . There he got a two-year contract. There he managed to qualify for the championship games in his first season. In the final, however, he and his team lost 3-2 to Gyeongju Citizen FC . In the following season he and his team just missed the championship games. At the beginning of 2013 he moved to Hwaseong FC . With Hwaseong FC he won the K3 Challengers League in 2014. It was his first title win as a coach. He stayed with Hwaseong until the end of 2015. Since the beginning of 2016 he has been taking over the team from Gyeongnam FC . Despite a penalty of ten points from the association, he was able to reach 8th place with Gyeongnam and collect a total of 50 points.
