Kim Jong-hae (born July 23, 1941 in Pusan ) is a South Korean poet and publisher .

Life

Kim Jong-hae was born on July 23, 1941 in Pusan . He was one of the founding members of the magazine Sinnyŏndae (신 년대), employee of the magazine Moderne Lyrik (현대 시) and also participated in the publication of magazines such as Patriotismus (나라 사랑) and Bildnis (심상). He has worked as general secretary of the Korean Poets Association (한국 시인 협회), as chairman of the Korean Publishing and Cultural Association (대한 출판 문화 협회) and is currently the director of Munhak Segye-sa Publishing (문학 세계사).

His writing career can be divided into three periods. The first period extends from his official debut and the publication of his first collection of poems to the early 1970s when he published his second collection of poems. During this time, his poetry represented the emptiness and despair of contemporary reality and the poet's will to overcome it and the belief that he would succeed.

The second period of his career begins with the poem The Spirit of Seoul (서울 의 정신 (精神)), contains slaves, get up! (賤 如, 일어서 다) and ends in the late seventies with the publication of his third collection of poems. Although his poems from this time depict the profound tragedy in the midst of reality, they envelop it in trust and love. Several works of this period have the mother as the subject, who is portrayed as a god-like person who can free the world from the cruel reality and stimulate deeper meditation on the real meaning of love and trust.

The third period of his career took place in the late eighties when he continuously explored the problems of life and reality in his poetry.
