Kim Mehmeti

Kim Mehmeti (* 1955 in Skopje ) is a North Macedonian publicist and writer of Albanian ethnicity .

Life

He writes short stories about the life and everyday life of Macedonians and Albanians, which he writes in both Albanian and Macedonian . In an interview, Mehmeti, himself a Muslim, announced that he came from an Albanian Orthodox family.

In all of his tasks and stories, he advocates peaceful coexistence between the various ethnic groups of Macedonia and against nationalism . He was also the editor of the independent information network Alternativna Informativna Mreža , in which both Albanians and Macedonians worked together. He is also the director of the Qendra për Mirëkuptim dhe Bashkëpunim Multikulturor , a center for multicultural understanding.

In March 2000 he founded the independent weekly newspaper Lobi in Skopje together with Iso Rusi , for which he also writes.

For several years now, his books have been translated into German by Joachim Röhm and published by the Klagenfurt publishing house Drava .
