Sotiris Kaiafas (born December 17, 1949 in Limassol ) is a former Cypriot football player. He was a striker and played exclusively for Omonia Nicosia .

Career

Kaiafas joined Omonia Nicosia in 1967 at the age of 16. With the double in the 1971/72 season, in which Kaiafas was also top scorer, the most successful phase in the history of the club began.

With Omonia Kaiafas won the Cyprus Championship a total of 11 times, from 1974 to 1979 six times in a row. He won the cup four times and the Supercup five times. He was also the top scorer of the Cypriot league in eight seasons and in 1976/77 he was the first Cyprus player to win the Golden Shoe as Europe's top scorer with 44 goals . In 1984 he ended his career.

Kaiafas played 17 times for the Cypriot national team , scoring two goals.

In 2003 he was chosen as the " Golden Player " of Cyprus, the most important Cypriot player of the last 50 years.
