Darko Pančev ( Macedonian Дарко Панчев; born September 7, 1965 in Skopje ) is a former Yugoslav or Macedonian football player .

Athletic career

Club career

The native Macedonian began his career in 1982 with Vardar Skopje . In 1988 he moved to Red Star Belgrade . There he won the Yugoslav championship three times (1990, 1991, 1992), once the cup (1990) and in 1991 also the European Cup and the World Cup . In the same year he won the Golden Shoe as Europe's most successful goalscorer . He moved to Inter Milan in 1992 , but was unable to assert himself there and was awarded to the then Bundesliga club VfB Leipzig from January 1994 until the end of the season. After another season at Inter, he moved again to Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 1995/96 season . He ended his career in 1997 with FC Sion in Switzerland.

Selection bets

With the Yugoslav national team he took part in the 1990 World Cup, scoring two goals in three missions. He played 27 international matches for Yugoslavia and six more for Macedonia.

Further career

Pančev is now the director of the Macedonian football club Vardar Skopje.
