Kim Sun-min (born June 8, 1976 in South Korea ) is a South Korean children's book author and character designer in the art of urban vinyl .

She met her future husband David Horvath at Parsons The New School for Design , where she graduated. After her student visa expired in 2001, she had to return to South Korea in the meantime. Together with Horvath she created the Uglydolls , the most successful designer toy collection. They wrote each other love letters and at the end of one of these letters the first drawing of an Uglydoll was made. They got married in 2005 and have one child together. Kim lives and works in Los Angeles and Seoul .

In addition to joint works such as the Uglydolls and Pounda, Kim also designs her own Spider Boom character , for example, or is invited to art toy series such as Dunny, Qee, Circus Punks and Trexi.

The Horvath / Kim figures are often produced as vinyl figures as well as designer plush .
