Kim Tae-wan (born June 1, 1971 ) is a former South Korean soccer player who last played for Daejeon Citizen . He is under contract with Sangju Sangmu FC . He took over the post of coach at the end of 2016.

Career as a player

Adolescence

Kim Tae-wan was at Dongnae Middle School from 1984 to 1987 . He then went to Dongnae High School . After finishing school, he studied for three years at Hongik University and played for their university team.

Football career in South Korea

He started his career with the former K League founding member Hanil Bank FC . In 1995 he had to do his military service and moved to Sangmu , the predecessor military association of Sangju Sangmu FC. In late 1996, he finished his military service and moved to Daejeon Citizen in the K League. In Daejeon he stayed a total of four years and during this time he had 116 appearances and scored 5 goals. It was only in his last season that he was able to win a title. Only in 2001 was he able to win the Korean FA Cup with Daejeon Citizen . At the end of 2001 he ended his career as a football player.

Career as a coach

In 2002 he was hired as a co-trainer by his former military association Sangmu . In 2003 he moved to the newly founded military association Gwangju Sangmu and was co-trainer there for 7 years. When the military club moved to Sangju at the end of 2010 , he followed the club and also became a co-trainer there. In the same season he became interim coach at Sangju Sangmu FC . From 2012 he was co-coach at Sangju Sangmu FC for three more years. In 2016 he was 2nd co-trainer for one season. After the coach Cho Jin-ho left for Busan IPark in late 2016 , he became the team's new coach. He will lead Sangju Sangmu FC as coach in 2017. He's also coaching a team for the first time.
