Kim Tae-yun (born September 28, 1994 in Seoul ) is a South Korean speed skater .

Career

Kim started the World Cup for the first time in Calgary at the beginning of the 2013/14 season and finished in group B in 20th and 19th place over 500 m and 16th place over 1000 m. In January 2014, he came 12th at the Sprint World Championship in Nagano . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he finished 30th in the 1000 m. In the 2015/16 season he was ninth in the 1000 m and sixth in the 2 x 500 m run at the 2016 World Single Distance Championships in Kolomna and fifth at the 2016 Sprint World Championships in Seoul . He also won the South Korean Championships in 2016 over 1000 m and the sprint all-around. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season in Harbin he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with third place over 500 m. In February 2017 he ran at the individual distance world championships in Gangwon on the 20th place over 500 m and on the 13th place over 1000 m and in the sprint world championship in Calgary on the 14th place. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season he was South Korean champion over 1000 m in Seoul. At the highlight of the season, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he surprisingly won the bronze medal in the 1000 m.
